Taylor Williams: Lead Guitar, Vocals

Taylor Williams hails from Ft. Worth. He has been a noted guitarist on the Texas music scene for the last five years. He began playing in clubs in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area when he was 17 years old. Since that time he has recorded his debut album “Blind” and opened for artists such as Leon Russell, Bob Schneider and Grand Funk Railroad with his band.

Jason Vopni: Electric Bass, Stand up Bass, Touch of Class

Jason Vopni is perhaps the most traveled and mysterious member of the Charlie Harrison band. He is thought to originally hail from Canada, but is known to have lived in the U.K. and Tijuana. A graduate of the University of Texas school of music, Jason brings an impressive wealth of knowledge to the group. Jason currently works in an Austin studio, and has been sitting in with the popular group “Larry”. http:www.larylovesyou.com

Let me tell you a little about myself:
I came to Texas from Georgia when I was one. I grew up in Bedford and Houston, TX. I started playing drums in bands when I was thirteen. I started writing songs when I was sixteen, and I naturally developed an interest in guitar. After graduating high school in 2000, I came to Austin to attend the University of Texas. Once I got here, I paid a lot more attention to Sixth Street and music than I ever gave to school.

By the midpoint of my freshman year my roommate and I had a steady weekly gig at the now departed “Scrap Bar”. It was Wild Whiskey Wednesdays, with us on stage and a forgiving eye at the door. We were pretty terrible back then. We played a three hour set of every three chord song I could possible think of the words to, peppered with my then small repertoire of originals compositions. Things there went pretty well, what we lacked in ability we made up for in enthusiasm.

I eventually began to trying to form a band. This was something that was easier said than done while living in a dorm, but a group of friends emerged that I still see and play with today. Jason Vopni (best damn bass player I know) and I have played with different folks throughout the last five years. We have had a Spinal Tap-esque rotation of drummers, but we have a good group of guys together now.

People sometime ask me to describe my Music.
Sometimes I call it country, and sometime I call it Americana. Some of the songs I write are almost folk, but then live, we tend to lean more to the rock side of things. I like simple songs. My lyrics are generally pretty straightforward. I write about regret and desire, just like everybody else.

I have been influenced by artists ranging from Jerry Jeff Walker, to Ryan Adams.
If you happen to hop in my car sometime you will probably hear Jerry Jeff, David Allen Coe, Todd Snider, Steve Earl and the Dukes, John Prine, Johnny Cash, Leon Russell or one of my more guilty pleasures. Everybody needs a little eighties cheese country sometimes, I don’t care what Taylor says.

Nowadays, the Band is:
Jason, Taylor Williams (best damn guitarist I know) and either Mikey Gammon, Bryan Breaux or Nick Summers on drums, depending where and when you catch us. We play around Austin and make it out of town every once and a while.

We have been able to play at some great clubs like:

Stubbs, La Zona Rosa, Austin City Music Hall, Scrap Bar, The Across the Street Bar, Adair’s Saloon The Side Street Bar, various friend’s backyards and living rooms at 4:00 AM, Cain and Able’s, Bar Austin and of course, our home away from home; The Blind Pig Pub. There have been other venues, but these are the most notable and nearest to our hearts.

If you get a chance, come see us sometime.
We do our best to make good music, and have a good time.
